Claire Munier

After 2 years in a preparatory school, I studied mainly organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, biochemistry and process engineering at CPE (engineer school in Chemistry, Physics and Electronic) in Lyon, France. During my final year at CPE, I followed an advanced training in organic chemistry at the university of Lyon.
Exciting to work on future medicines plus find new ways to reach out more people who need treatments, I performed different industrial placements in pharmaceutical companies:
– 12-month industrial placement at Boehringer Ingelheim, Biberach, Germany. Research compound synthesis within a CombiChem group in medicinal chemistry. Successfully synthesized two compounds which are now candidates for in-depth preclinical profiling.
– 6-month industrial placement at Roche, Basel, Switzerland. Synthesis of small organic molecules to discover and develop new pharmaceuticals in medicinal chemistry.
To add value as regard intellectual, innovation and problem solving capacities, I decided to pursue my studies as a PhD Student in medicinal chemistry at AstraZeneca, Gothenburg, Sweden within a Marie Sklodowska-Curie Innovative Training Network.
Passionate about dance, I co-founded Zumba Association on my campus at CPE. Last but not least, I travel extensively to discover and experience interesting and different ways of life

Project topic: Stabilization of the protein-protein interaction between 14-3-3 and glucocorticoid receptor with a small molecule

In the first instance, the interaction between 14-3-3 and glucocorticoid receptor (GR) will be studied by performing biophysical assays with predicted 14-3-3 binding sites of GR. Then, the aim of the project is to visualize this interaction thanks to a crystal structure to finally identify and optimize small molecule 14-3-3 PPI stabilizers as a novel tools for basic research and starting point for drug development.
